Hey everyone! I cannot believe launch date is here. I have been spending countless hours outside of my everyday full-time job to get this site launched. The many obstacles encountered during the process have finally been navigated, and I am so excited to finally announce that we are (obviously) live! I wanted to use this space to introduce myself and describe the overall plan for WordsEyeView, as this website is in no way complete.
Personal Introduction
My name is Shawn Hicks and I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My favorite genre is Fiction including sub-genres of Horror, Science Fiction, Mystery, and Thriller. Although I mostly read fiction, I also have leaned into more nonfiction recently, especially with a select few authors including David Grann, Luke Larson, and Douglas Preston. In fact, much of the Science Fiction that I read is written by Douglas Preston and other authors like him who have a background in anthropology and thus whose novels use realistic scientific topics, thereby making their fiction novels more believable than others. If you would like to learn more about me, visit the About Us page, send me an email with any questions, or drop a comment on one of the blog posts.
What is WordsEyeView?
WordsEyeView is not just a blog for readers. We are a brand that will be constantly expanding into more avenues of reviews. While we are starting as a book review brand, our plan is to expand first into movie and TV adaptations of novels and then potentially into other adjacent spaces. We hope to be able to expand the brand to include giveaways, so stay tuned for more updates over the next few weeks and throughout our growth phase.
Social Media Presence
At the time of posting this update, we only have a social media presence on Instagram. Unfortunately, our brand name is already being utilized on Instagram, so we had to change it to words_eye_view on that channel alone. We do have a presence on several other platforms including Goodreads and Ko-Fi. The immediate goal is to create more of a social presence on platforms such as Facebook, Threads, X (formerly Twitter), and possibly Discord, YouTube, and a few others. I’m probably missing some important ones here but am welcoming suggestions. I highly recommend following us on Instagram for now, where I will be posting any updates / additions to our social presence. In addition to following, please subscribe to this blog so you can receive email updates with new posts. This website will always be updated with our current social media links for ease of access.
We are new to this space and can use all the support we can get. Please give us a follow, and if you like our content, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share our channels with your friends, family, followers, and others. We never want to spam people, but please share our content occasionally. Below are some share links to get the word out about our new site launch.
Support Group
The reading community has already been so supportive. I love this community and I’m looking forward to meeting more of you over the years to come. Again, this brand and site is in its infancy stage and I am so excited to grow the brand with your help. Please send me an email on our Contact Page if you have suggestions for site improvements or ideas you would like to see come to fruition. Are there missing features you expect to be present on our site? Are you able to comment, like posts, share your feedback easily? All of these capabilities are important to us, and I am still learning about WordPress and its plugins. If any site capability is missing that you expect to be present, please reach out. I am constantly improving this site and your support is greatly appreciated.
Because I don’t like asking for support, I will only do this one time. You may see a support sticky for Ko-Fi at the bottom of some of the site pages. This is completely optional and in no way expected. Managing this site with various plugins for site security, backups, and design modules was more expensive than initially expected. Maintaining this site will have annual costs associated with it. If you love the content, it would be very helpful for any monetary support, however small, to keep this site live for years to come. Just know that it is not expected and that I am happy to maintain this site out of my own pocket as a hobby and labor of love.
Conclusion
